According to the WSJ, Sprint (S) and T-Mobile (TMUS) have restarted talks on a merger. Though nothing appears to have changed that has kept this deal from happening for the last 4 years, the parties appear headed towards more talks. The question here is whether the companies will come to a merger agreement within the next 2 months. The deal would consolidate the wireless industry to 3 providers suggesting government approval is highly unlikely until Sprint reaches a stress point where the company requires a merger to survive and effectively compete. Disclosure: No position mentioned.
